AVID

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a fourth- through twelfth-grade system to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility.  It has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students, and in closing the achievement gap. AVID students dedicate themselves to our rigorous curriculum and gain the necessary study skills and experience they need to succeed.  In addition, a dedicated AVID elective class provides help for those students selected using national AVID criteria.  With the right help, these students can accelerate in high school and attend the college of their choice.

The mission of AVID is to ensure that ALL students and most especially the least served students who are in the middle, will succeed in a rigorous curriculum, will complete a rigorous college preparatory path, will enter mainstream activities of the school, will increase their enrollment in four-year colleges, and will become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society. AVID's systemic approach is designed to support students and educators as they increase school wide/district wide learning and performance.
